Organizations around Macon will host pre- and post-Bragg Jam events. The Macon Arts Alliance will host the opening reception for the first-ever Bragg Jam art exhibit on Wednesday, July 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. The music-themed exhibit will feature the winner of the “BraggArt” call for artist that was used in the festival’s Arts @ the Park poster and Patron Party invitations. The opening reception will include an auction items preview for Bragg Jam’s kick-off, the Patron Party and Music Auction on July 30. The exhibit will remain on display through July 31 in the Macon Arts Alliance gallery.

On Thursday, July 29, the MaGa Film Festival and the College Hill Alliance will host a free movie screening in Tattnall Square Park of “Almost Famous.” The event will feature Bragg Jam give-aways, including armband vouchers, CD compilations and t-shirts. Arrive at 8 p.m. to enjoy music from the Bragg Jam music CD compilation. The movie will start as soon as the sun goes down. Please note the movie is rated R.

The day after Bragg Jam, on Sunday, August 1, from 1 to 4 p.m., the Big House (Allman Brothers Museum) will host the “Hair of the Dog: Post Bragg Jam Recovery Celebration.” The outdoor event will feature live music with Sol Junky, Scott Little and Oh Dorian and food and beverages will be available (no coolers, please). The event is $5 to attend, $3 with a Bragg Jam armband.

Bragg Jam’s Patron Party & Music Auction, a rock and roll cocktail party to thank festival sponsors will take place on Friday, July 30 at the Armory Ballroom. The Randall Bramblett Band will perform. Tickets are still available via $100 Friend of Bragg sponsorships, which also include two armbands for the Concert Crawl and the official Bragg Jam t-shirt. This year’s music auction items include a VIP ticket package to Wanee Festival 2011, a signed Peavy electric guitar by the Zac Brown Band and signed Gretsch guitar by the B-52’s. Other items include art, gift certificates and music memorabilia. See braggjam.org for an updated auction items list.

Concert Crawl Updates

07.26.2010 | Posted By Jessica

Please see the Concert Crawl page for the latest schedule. The event is now nine venues with 41 bands, playing throughout Macon. More all-ages and non-smoking venues remain than ever before, featured on the interactive Concert Crawl web page, which also includes the option to sample the music before the show.

Printed Concert Crawl schedules will be available at each venue during the event. BraggJam.org will also have a downloadable, printable schedule available later this week.

The Hilton Garden Inn is the official hotel for Bragg Jam, offering a discounted rate through its reservation page found via the Macon page. Ocmulgee Expeditions and the College Hill Corridor have partnered to offer free shuttle service from the hotel to downtown’s trolley stop at Third Street Park. Francar’s Wings is also extending their restaurant hours the night of the Concert Crawl to accept late night food orders, available for hotel delivery.

Bragg Jam’s Concert Crawl will take place, rain or shine. On Cherry Street in downtown Macon, the open container regulations will be the same as Macon’s First Friday. Two trolleys are routed to venues outside of downtown. The trolleys pick up and drop off at the Third Street Park stage at the intersection of Cherry and Third. One trolley is routed to the Shamrock and back. The other is routed to Rivalry’s on Northside and the Mellow Mushroom and back. The trolley rides are free for those with Bragg Jam armbands, which are $20 and can be purchased at any of Bragg Jam’s nine venues after 5 p.m. on July 31 (no pre-sale tickets).

Inspired by late musicians and brothers Brax and Tate Bragg and operated as a 501c3 under a volunteer board of directors, the Bragg Jam Festival has contributed over $110,00 of its net proceeds to the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail. Since 1999, Bragg Jam has evolved from an impromptu jam session to citywide music festival to a full-scale arts festival and Macon’s premier music event.

Proceeds from Bragg Jam Festival 2010 will be donated to the expansion of the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail in memory of Brax and Tate Bragg.
